TV corporations have denied for years that attention deficit resulted from TV watching. The extreme switching of the attention and stress from anger and sexual content are probably causes attention deficit. This is called attention deficit because one’s attention is not calm and steady and has as a result an “attention deficit “.

My attention deficit was related to my mania and bipolar symptoms.

One trains one’s attention in great measure by what one pays attention too. If it is trained to bounce speedily from one thing to another as TV does then an attention deficit is created, at least in me. Mental health recovery for me depended on giving up TV.

The TV induced attention deficit triggered mania very badly.

These bipolar symptoms also led to depression from the media exposure to needless stress about the state of the world.  This was one of the principle life style changes needed to get off mood “stabilizers” for me. The drugs were causing me considerable side effects. Including work loss and trouble focusing. I worked with my great psychiatrist to do this. Also meditation was essential in this process of mental health recovery. So were consumer operated services. More mental health research needs to be done on life style issues like TV. Anger generated to raise TV ratings is also related to the mania phase of bipolar symptoms in me. see Bipolar Mental Health Recovery Patterns>

Mania and attention deficit seem to be related in me.

The sexual content related to anger and stress also used to generate TV ratings raises the mania level of my bipolar symptoms. I have been diagnosed with schizophrenia, bipolar symptoms of mania and depression and also with a panic and anxiety disorder. All labels granted but also extreme states I needed to deal with. My meditation and Zen practice helped give up TV but also the TV mania was interfering with calm Zen meditation.
